The Ural-63095 Typhoon was developed under a request from the Russian Ministry of Defence, it’s a new armoured truck personnel carrier which involve lot of Russian defence companies. The Ural-63095 was unveiled in September 2010 at the REA 2011, Russian Expo Arms Defence Exhibition in Nizhny Tagil, Russia. In January 2012, the Russian Ministry of Defence has confirmed its interest for these new armored truck.

Armament

The Ural-63095 Typhoon can be equipped with a remote weapon station mounted on the top of the crew compartment. This weapon system can be armed with a machine gun up to 14.5 mm calibre.

Design and protection

The layout of the Ural-63095 Typhoon is based on a standard truck, with the engine at the front, crew compartment in the middle, and the cargo are at the rear. The soldiers enter and leave the Ural-63095 Typhoon via a single door at the rear of the troop compartment. The crew cabin and the rear compartment are fully enclosed and provide a protection against firing of small arm and shell splinters. The Ural-63095 Typhoon is also protected against landmines and IEDs. It is claimed that this armored truck can withstand 8 kg mine blast. Developers say the vehicle is more dependable than BTR armored personnel carriers, and that it can withstand anti-tank mine blasts. The driver sits at the front of the vehicle on the left side with the commander to the right. Both have a large bulletproof windscreen to the front, which can be covered by a shutter hinged at the top, and a side door that opens to the front. In either side of the troop compartment are two bullet-proof windows and firing ports so that the troops can fire their weapons from within the vehicle. Two circular hatches are mounted on the top of the troop compartment.

Propulsion

The Ural-63095 has a 6×6 independent suspension and is designed to be used on any types of roads and terrain. This armoured truck is motorized with 450 hp. powerful engine coupled to a six-speed gearbox. The vehicle is also equipped with two 300 liters fuel tanks that allow it to travel a maximum distance of 1,800 km.

Accessories

The variant of the Ural-63095 Typhoon that has been shown at the Russian Expo Arm defence exhibition was equipped with air conditioning system at the rear of the hull.
